Techie in Progress
I motivated myself into learning computers because I read that learning new skill is good for the brain. It was not an easy journey but with many hours of practice, I got better and felt more comfortable with this new gadget in my life. I overcame many fears and disproved many thoughts that hindered me from even touching a key of a computer.
I am so proud of my PS30 colleagues who sacrificed hours of their summer vacation to participate in the technology workshop in school. Just like me, many expressed fears, uncomfortable feelings and lack of confidence on the first day. As the air of uncertainty drifted out of the room, learning and new discoveries became evident from the "AHAS" heard in the room, the smiles when they successfully sent their first emails, and the loud exclaims of "I did it!" What a wonderful feeling, I know, I have been there. This is just the beginning...there are more to learn. Together, we will continue to support each others' progress and challenges. We are TECHIES IN PROGRESS!

School Uniform for Teachers

Few days before the school year ended, I noticed a teacher wearing the school uniform colors which are light blue and navy blue. I was not the only who noticed but there were others too.
We gathered in the hallway and talked about the idea of wearing the school uniform colors just like the students for this coming school year. I thought about it and realized that it is actually a good idea. I will tell you why...
This is the year when we have to stand as one unit and bring our school to a higher ground. Wearing uniform is a symbol of unity and will identify us from other people in the building who are not part of PS30. This action MIGHT entice the students to keep theirs too, since we are setting an example for them to follow. Teachers could come in in pants or skirts, as long as it has the colors. Also, for practical reasons, wearing uniform saves us the headache of deciding what to wear each day, money to buy new clothes for school, and just EASIER!
I am throwing this idea out there. Think about it....share your opinion. What's on your mind?
